I wrote about 5 Turkish prospects who are playing in NCAA this season.

SAMET YİĞİTOĞLU

DOB: 10.03.2004
Position: C
Height: 7’2″
Team: SMU Mustangs

Stats: 10 games | 22 MIN | 10.5 PTS | %62 FG (39/63) | %63 FT (27/43) | 5.8 REB (1.9 OREB) | 1.3 AST | 1.1 BLK | 1 TO

Samet is off to a good start in his freshman season. Good roller and effective finisher on pick&roll actions. Has some good post moves but needs to work on his touch around the rim. Active on the offensive rebound. Has shown good rim protection in some games, but has room for improvement on defense. Needs to watch out for foul trouble and improve his FTs.

BERKE BÜYÜKTUNCEL

DOB: 02.09.2004
Position: F
Height: 6’10”
Team: Nebraska Cornhuskers

Stats: 11 games | 23 MIN | 8.1 PTS | %68 2PT (26/38) | %30 3PT (7/23) | %80 FT (16/20) | 6.4 REB (1.9 OREB) | 1.5 AST | 1.3 STL | 1.5 TO

Berke has improved greatly since his first season in the NCAA (played for UCLA). Has effective post-up offense. Agressive on offensive rebounds and finishes well in the paint. I like his physical development. Good defender. Needs to consistent on threes and watch out for turnovers. I know he has a good shooter potential. Last summer played with %54 3PT in U20 European Championship. Good on FTs.

TAN YILDIZOĞLU

DOB: 01.01.2004
Position: G
Height: 6’4″
Team: VMI Keydets

Stats: 11 games | 26 MIN | 8 PTS | %58 2PT (23/40) | %34 3PT (11/32) | %56 FT (9/16) | 3.5 REB | 5.4 AST | 1.5 STL | 2.6 TO

Tan was very good in his first game, setting a school single-game assist record with 15 AST in just 23 MIN. Good playmaker who can control the pace. Has great court vision. Drives well to the rim and finishes. Smart defender who plays with 1.5 STL. Shooting is my biggest concern with him, this season is not bad (%34.4 3PT) but I would like to see him be more consistent. Needs to improve his FTs.

ZEKERİYA TEKİN

DOB: 13.05.2004
Position: G
Height: 6’2″
Team: Le Moyne Dolphins

Stats: 14 games | 29 MIN | 8.9 PTS | %49 2PT (35/72) | %12 3PT (3/26) | %80 FT (45/56) | 2.9 REB | 4.5 AST | 1.9 STL | 2.4 TO

Zek is a quick guard with good playmaking skills. I like his bounce passes. Good defender, always has active hands on defense. Nice pick&roll ball handler. On the plus side, he has reduced his turnovers and increased his assists since last season. Good on FTs. Needs to become a better shooter. He shot really poorly this season and it’s important for his career that he shoots better.

CENKER EVRAN

DOB: 29.05.2004
Position: F/C
Height: 6’8″
Team: Edinboro University (NCAA D2)

Stats: 10 games | 31 MIN | 14.5 PTS | %65 FG (60/93) | %69 FT (25/36) | 12.4 REB (4.3 OREB) | 2.3 AST | 1.2 BLK | 1.7 TO

Cenker finished the 8 out of 10 games with a double-double. He is 2nd in RPG in NCAA D2. Dominant rebounder with relentless effort and good rebound instincts. Effective finisher around the rim with nice post moves and footwork. His FTs are good for someone who plays mostly center. Does not have a shooting threat. Adding shooting to his game will be important at the pro level.
